Michael Bartlett

Board Chair

Mike Bartlett joined the board of Stanley Mutual in 2013 and is currently the vice chairman of the board. In 2017, after spending 32 years with the NB Provincial Government’s Department of Natural Resources, Mike retired as Director of Forest Management. In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, with his friends, and in the outdoors hunting and fishing.

Derek MacFarlane, RPF, Prof Dir

Derek MacFarlane joined our Board in 1995 and has served on all Board Committees. He currently holds the position as Chair. He received his Professional Director designation from Governance Solutions in 2019. Derek has both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Forestry and is a Registered Professional Forester. Derek retired in 2019 after working with JD Irving Ltd. and Natural Resources Canada (Director General of the Atlantic Forestry Centre). He has served on the Board for the Hugh John Flemming Forestry Complex and the Board of Governors for the Maritime College of Forest Technology and is currently on the Board for Stanley Mutual’s Re-Insurance company, Farm Mutual Re, in Cambridge, Ontario. Derek and his wife Gail reside on the farm that was the first policy issued by Stanley Mutual in 1937. Derek grows Christmas trees and enjoys being with family and friends.

David MacMinn

David MacMinn joined our Board back in 2004. Prior to that he worked more than three decades with three different provincial government departments focusing on policy, planning and economic development. A native of Bathurst, NB, he was educated at McGill University with a Bachelor of Science and at the University of Guelph with a Master of Science.

David resides in Harvey with his wife, Brenda and has been involved in volunteering as a hockey coach, baseball coach, chair of the Harvey Hospital Board, Harvey Recreation Centre and Board of Managers at Knox Church. He’s held the Chair of Stanley Mutual for three years, served as Chair of United General Insurance’s Board and has been Chair of various committees at Stanley.

In his spare time, he is involved with wood turning, hunting, fishing and focuses on mechanical and woodworking projects.

Wanda Schuttenbeld

Wanda Schuttenbeld has been a Director with Stanley Mutual since 2012. Before joining our Team she was part of the management team at McFadzen Holdings for 25 years. She also volunteered on the OMHA Board and coached Soccer for the Middle Schools and the OASA for years.

Wanda helps her husband and youngest son on their Dairy farm just outside Fredericton. Biking, running, paddle boarding and cross-country skiing fills the rest of her time! The highlight of her life is spending time with her granddaughter, her oldest sons five-year-old daughter.

 

Robert Taylor

Robert (Bob) Taylor and his wife reside in the Miramichi. Bob is a retired federal employee after 38 plus years of service in Correctional Service at Atlantic Institution and as a Constable with the RCMP in NB and BC. He became a Stanley Mutual policy holder in 1986 after returning from BC and his parents were Stanley policy holders before him. Bob has been on our Board since the 1990’s and is very thankful for the opportunity to work with and meet such wonderful people in the Mutual family.

Karen Armstrong

Honorary Director

Karen joined Stanley Mutual Insurance as an Honorary Director in 2021. She retired from the Financial Services industry in 2017, having worked for the Royal Bank, CIBC and Progressive Credit Union. During her career she worked in various aspects of the industry including Branch Manager, Personal Lending Officer, Investment Specialist and Licensed Mutual Funds Representative. Karen enjoys keeping active, spending time in her gardens and getting together with family at the cottage.

Greg Dunlap
President & CEO

Greg began his insurance career in 1987. Over the years, he has held a variety of positions with large national insurers and also as an owner of a successful brokerage He has obtained his CIP and numerous other insurance designations. Greg’s passion is people. Not only is he dedicated to helping his team be their very best for the members, his ultimate dedication is to his family.

Greg enjoys many hobbies such as motorcycling, building motorcycles and many other things, golf, playing guitar, officiating and coaching hockey, curling and most especially, spending time at the trailer with his family and friends.

Tammy Ross
Vice President, Finance & Administration

Tammy Ross started her insurance career in 2005 at Stanley Mutual. Prior to that she was as an office manager at a fly-fishing outfitter.  In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her two beautiful grandchildren.

Colin Brewer, BBA, CIP
Business Development Leader

Colin Brewer began his insurance career by working as a licensed agent for his father’s insurance agency in 1997, right after completing his BBA at UNB Fredericton.  He later operated his own Stanley Mutual Agency from 2002 to 2018 before becoming our Business Development Leader in July of 2018.

In his spare time, Colin enjoys playing his guitars, camping, downhill skiing, lounging in a beach chair by the water and spending time with his wife & 4 kids.

Melissa Coleman, CIP
Member Service Leader

Melissa Coleman began her insurance career straight out of University.  She continued on to complete her Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation while working for one of the largest insurers in Canada.  Her career has taken her to various Provinces and different departments allowing her to build a vast insurance knowledge.  She currently holds the position of Member Service Leader.  When not at work she can be found volunteering for various charities or enjoying an active lifestyle of cycling and hiking in this beautiful Province.

Loretta Lyons
Finance Administrator

Loretta Lyons became part of the Stanley Mutual family in 2007, working out of our head office in Stanley.  She continues to work at head office as part of the Finance Department.  Before joining us, she worked for a technology company supporting real estate professionals with their MLS system.  Loretta loves spending time with her family & being outdoors.

Sheila Bartlett
Finance Assistant

Sheila joined the finance team at Stanley Mutual in November 2021. After completing a 2-year Business Technology Accounting program at NBCC in 1988, Sheila worked for 10 years as a financial manager for a manufacturing company and for the last 21 years as Business Manager of a Charity. Sheila would say that her career started in Insurance, as her first REAL job was at Stanley Mutual as a summer student in 1987. In her spare time, Sheila enjoys staying active and spending time with friends and family; especially her 2-year-old grandson.

Courtney Case
Account Administrator

Courtney joined us in late November 2020. When she was hired, she came on as the receptionist. Within no time she moved over to the Account Administrator position and now works to keep our accounts in check and assisting our clients with payments. Courtney comes from a pharmaceutical background of 8 years. Courtney was born and raised in Barrie, ON and recently just moved and bought a house in Fredericton. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring trails or facetiming her friends and family back home!

Lisa Bubar
Administrative Coordinator

Lisa Bubar is the administrative coordinator at head office in Stanley, and joined our team in 2019. Before that she worked as a PSW for 6 years with Upper Nashwaak Outreach and operated her own day care for 20 years. Lisa received her certificate in Marketing from NBCC Moncton, as well as the PSW certificate.  When not at work, she enjoys gardening, walking, home renovating and spending time with family and friends.

Jodi Simpson
Assistant Claims Examiner

Jodi Simpson began her insurance career with Stanley Mutual in 2013. Jodi has worked in both the underwriting department and presently in the claims department at our head office.  Prior to Stanley Mutual, she managed two different contact centres and worked at the Stanley village office. When not at work Jodi enjoys camping, shopping, traveling and spending time with her three daughters and husband.

Cindy Devereaux
Underwriter

Cindy joined the Stanley Mutual team in June 2021. She began her insurance career in 2006 working with another carrier in the last 14 plus years holding various roles in sales and compliance departments. Prior to working in the insurance industry Cindy was employed in the hotel industry for 13 years holding various roles in reservation sales and revenue. Cindy enjoys spending time with her two children and family and enjoys exploring new trails, cooking, and watching her daughter dance and play softball. She has been her son’s biggest cheerleader in the last 18 years watching him playing competitive hockey and baseball.

Erika Carr
Account Manager

Erika joined the Stanley Mutual team in October 2020. She’s been in the insurance industry since January 2018, where she began her journey in an insurance advisory role with one of the larger national insurers. Prior to being in the insurance industry, she worked in the financial industry for 6 years with the administration and repayment of government student loans.

Erika enjoys getting to know her new environment and exploring the trails with her daughter when the weather is kind.

Receptionist

Janelle started with Stanley Mutual in December of 2020 as a Receptionist in our Fredericton office . She spent the last 7 years in Calgary, AB working in the Hospitality Industry. In her spare time she enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, fiancé & dog in the great outdoors!

Account Executive

Gary Jones joined our team in 2019 as an Account Executive at our Fredericton office, with his primary role being new business sales.  Before this he was in the IT Industry as a Corporate Solution Rep for over 23 years.  He keeps busy in his community by volunteering his time coaching minor softball and serves on the Board of Directors for the Tri County Complex Inc. He and his 2 daughters enjoy spending time together volunteering in the community.

Shawna Dorcas
Account Manager

Shawna Dorcas has been a valued member of our team since 2018 and began her insurance career back in 2003.  She grew up with a close relationship to Stanley Mutual and the insurance industry as her Mother was an employee of Stanley Mutual for many years.  Shawna works as an Account Manager from our Head Office and especially enjoys working with our automobile clients.  She grew up and continues to reside in the Stanley area.  In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family and friends and loves spending time with Mother Nature!

Shawna Morehouse
Account Manager

Shawna Morehouse began her insurance career in 2001 working for Richard Jardine, who was a previous Agent for Stanley Mutual in Doaktown.  When Richard retired in 2017 Shawna was hired as an Account Manager for Stanley Mutual, continuing to work in our Doaktown office.  When Shawna’s not working she loves spending time with her family, reading and watching movies.

Lyssa Kennedy, BA
Account Manager

Lyssa Kennedy has been valued member of our team since March of 2020.  She works at our Fredericton office as an Account Manager.  Prior to joining our team she worked as an Advisor for Sun Life and as a Paramedic throughout the province. When Lyssa isn’t at work she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Linda Gormley
Account Manager

Linda joined Stanley Mutual in 2021 after 30 years in the dental field. She quickly achieved her license and began her role as an Account Manager. She brings her warm and friendly approach to her dealings with all of our members. Linda enjoys getting to know our members and learning about how to best meet their individual insurance needs.

Linda’s spare time is spent with her family and working with animal rescue groups.

Laura Colford
Account Manager

Laura Colford began her insurance career in 2020 as an Account Administrator in our Doaktown office. She graduated in 2014 from Atlantic Business College with a Paralegal/Legal Assistant diploma. She has 6 years of experience in the administrative field. Laura enjoys spending time with her family and pets.

Angele Palmer
Agent

Angele has over 30 years’ experience working in the insurance industry.  Since 2006, she’s been an Agent for us in Tabusintac, NB, where she operates her Agency with the help of 2 employees.  Over the years she’s been involved with a variety of non-profit organizations, such as Boy Scouts of Canada, Tree of Hope, the local Museum and Library and District Education Council for her local school.  In addition to spending time with her family, Angele loves to read and knit, but mostly loves quilting.  In fact, she’s donated a quilt for the past 5 years at our AGM to raise money for various non-profit organizations.

Noeleta Somers, CIP
Agent

Noeleta Somers began her insurance career with Morden & Helwig Insurance Adjusters.  She worked for them from 1983 up until July 1, 1987, when she joined Stanley Mutual as an Agent.  She completed her Associateship with the Insurance Institute of Canada in 1996 and obtained her CIP designation.  Noeleta worked out of her home in Lyttleton from 1987 to 2016 before moving her office to Miramichi, where she and Denise enjoy taking care of their customers’ needs.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending quiet time at home with her husband, Tracy, days by the pool, beach vacations and visits with her three children, their spouses and three grandchildren.

Tony Curtis
Account Executive

Tony joined the sales team at Stanley Mutual in May 2021. He has been involved in sales for over 30 years now. His greatest fulfillment comes from connecting with people and helping them see their own dreams become a reality. Tony was also a Youth and Music pastor for over 20 years. His greatest passions are travelling and adventuring with his wife Stef, riding motorcycles around the province, and cooking. He also loves Flight Simulation and has been an “arm chair pilot” since he was 14 years old.
